I’m Michael Worthington, a portrait artist and “emotional heirloom” specialist based in Quinns Rocks, in Perth’s northern suburbs. I focus on creating paintings that feel alive—portraits that hold a story, a relationship, a moment in time.

I’m interested in the quiet details: the way someone holds themselves, a familiar expression, the connection between family members. Those are the things that make a portrait feel like them, and that’s what I aim to capture in every piece.

If you have someone in mind—a parent, partner, child, or a family group—I’d be honoured to help you create a portrait that does them justice and becomes part of your family’s story here in Perth and beyond.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT:

My work centers on portraiture as a means of exploring the compexity and dignity of the human experience. Through oil on canvas, I seek to move beyond surface likeness and capture the subtle interplay of light, texture, and emotion that reveals the subject’s inner world.

Each Portrait is the result of careful observation and a deliberate, unhurried process, allowing time for the painting to evolve and for the subjects presence to emerge. My goal is to create images that invite viewers to pause, reflect and connect - artworks that feel both intimate and universal.

I am drawn to the quite moments and unguarded expressions that speak to our shared humanity. Whether working on a private commission or personal projects, I approach each painting with a commitment to authenticity and a respect for the stories that shape us.

Ultimately, I believe that a portrait can serve as a bridge - between artist and subject, subject and viewer, and among all of us who seek meaning in the faces and lives of each other.

Let’s create a work of art that captures you and your story. ”
