How do I commission a portrait with Michael Worthington Art?

To commission a portrait, simply fill out the enquiry form on my website or contact me directly. We’ll discuss your ideas, subject, and preferred style before confirming your booking with a 50% deposit.

What is the process for ordering an original oil painting?

The process includes an initial consultation, proposal, deposit, creation of the painting with progress updates, and final delivery. You’ll be kept informed at every stage.

What are your starting prices for family and executive portraits?

Family and couple portraits start from AU$2,400. Executive portraits start from AU$6,000. Custom sizes and group portraits are individually quoted.

Do you offer free shipping in Australia?

Yes! Free shipping is included for all original oil paintings and limited edition prints Australia-wide.

How long does a portrait commission take?

Most commissions take 4–8 weeks from booking to delivery, depending on size and complexity. I’ll provide a timeline estimate during our initial consultation.

Where is your studio located?

My studio is based in Quinns Rocks, northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. I serve clients locally and interstate.

Can I order a portrait from interstate?

Absolutely. I can work from high-quality reference photos and ship finished artworks securely anywhere in Australia.

Why do hand-painted portraits cost more than photographs?

A hand-painted portrait is a unique, time-intensive work of art. Each piece involves hours of craftsmanship, premium materials, and years of artistic skill—unlike a photograph, which can be quickly reproduced. The result is an heirloom designed to last for generations and hold deep emotional value.

What makes a painted portrait a worthwhile investment?

A painted portrait is more than a visual record; it’s a legacy piece. It captures presence, personality, and story in a way that photography can’t. Many clients find their portraits become the focal point of their home or office, treasured and passed down for generations.

Can’t I just frame a photo?

Framed photos are wonderful keepsakes, but a painted portrait offers something deeper: handcrafted artistry, texture, and emotional resonance. Each brushstroke is intentional, creating a work of art that feels alive and unique—something a photo simply can’t replicate.

Are payment plans or options available?

I understand that a hand-painted portrait is a significant investment. I offer flexible payment options and am happy to discuss custom sizes or approaches to fit your vision and budget. Let’s talk about what works best for you.
